Dear Parent and/or Guardian,
I’m glad your student is considering our January mission trip to Haiti!
You and I share a major goal: to keep your student safe physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.
Please know that we’re taking every precaution we can to ensure all students have a positive experience. If you have any questions, or would simply like to introduce yourself, I’d love to speak with you! Feel free to call my personal phone anytime at (614) 595-8225.
In the meantime, let me address a few concerns you may have:
We will be working with an established, experienced mission agency and missionary. We are partnering Living Hope Ministries (http://www.livinghopehaiti.org/index.htm), and Mary Jane (Basel) Jolibois. Mary Jane has been helping churches in the United States coordinate trips to Haiti through Living Hope Ministries Haiti for nine years and she has been a missionary in Haiti for eighteen years. She currently lives in the campus where we will be staying and is very familiar with the areas that are safe in which to travel and serve.
You will never be completely cut off from contact with your student. Though we discourage students from personal cell phone use to avoid unexpectedly high cellphone bills, you will be able to reach me at the above number should you need to contact your student. Also, students will stay on the Living Hope Ministries Haiti campus, so you may contact the house phone number at 011-509-3719-6124 in case of emergency.
If you have more questions, I’d love to hear from you! Better yet, if you’re in the Columbus area, I’d be happy to buy you a cup of coffee and talk about our trip and your student. An open door for communication between you, your student, and us, the church leadership, is one of the keys to everyone having a safe and successful trip. We’re committed to making sure that door is always open.
Sincerely,
Mike Malone
Pastor of Missions and Community Engagement
