Dear Parent and/or Guardian,

I’m glad your student is considering our March mission trip to Guatemala!
You and I share a major goal:  to keep your student safe physically, spiritually, emotionally, and mentally.  Please know that we’re taking every precaution we can to ensure all students have a positive experience.  If you have any questions, or would simply like to introduce yourself, I’d love to speak with you!  Feel free to call my personal phone anytime at (734 )709-9882.

In the meantime, let me address a few concerns you may have:

We will be working with an established, experienced mission agency and missionary.  We are partnering with Great Commission Latin America International (http://english.igcla.com), and Raul Leiva. Raul is a pastor and has been helping churches in the United States coordinate with churches he has overseen for 10 years to have dynamic and effective mission trips.   Also, the church in Guatemala City is well established (over 20 years old), and Raul is very familiar with the areas that are safe to travel and serve.

You will never be completely cut off from contact with your student.  Though we discourage students from personal cell phone use during the day while we are serving,  you would be able to contact your student in the evening through e-mail, video chat, or a phone call to the house shout the need arise.(The house phone number is 011 502 2476-0123 and 011 502 2476-0366 and the address is 23 Avenue 31-83 Zona 12, Santa Elisa, Ciudad Guatemala.)

If you have more questions, I’d love to hear from you!  Better yet, if you’re in the Columbus area, I’d be happy to buy you a cup of coffee and talk about our trip and your student.  An open door for communication between you, your student, and us, the church leadership, is one of the keys to everyone having a safe and successful trip.  We’re committed to making sure that door is always open.

Sincerely,

Mike Malone
