Something interesting/an odd fact about yourself:
I grew up on my family’s small farm, which has been in our family for over 220 years.

People remember me well as ā€œthe soil guy.ā€ I’m a huge nerd for soil – ask me about it, and I’ll keep you busy for a few hours. My passion for it culminated through soil judging for 4 years in high school and 3 years in college at OSU. I’m a soil romantic – I think most people are unaware of just how beautiful, diverse, complex, and important it is. My staff nickname, ā€œGranite Quarry,ā€ reflects this passion well.

Why you went on staff:
I grew up going to church every week with my family. I probably placed my faith in Christ at some point, but I mistook faith as a performance – a checklist of dos and don’ts – and I tried hard to live the perfect life as a ā€œstarā€ Christian, or at least make it look like I had it all together. It wasn’t until coming to college and discovering H2O that I began to learn that faith is about having a relationship with Jesus and openly receiving God’s abundant love and grace instead of trying to earn it or pay him back for it (spoiler alert: it can’t be done!). God, in his mercy, opened my eyes to my brokenness and the idol of performance that was enslaving me, and I turned back to Christ for forgiveness. Through my H2O family, I’ve continued to experience the awesome love and grace of Christ and to be transformed by it.

Through a mission trip to Haiti, God broke my heart for the nations that don’t know Jesus, and I became excited at the idea of reaching the lost with the gospel. During many years of prayer and seeking God, he continued nurturing this vision for full-time missionary work. I graduated from OSU and felt called to return and be a part of God’s work reaching out to college students at OSU with the gospel. I’m especially excited to see international students at OSU (about 7,000) hear the gospel and come into a saving relationship with their Lord and Savior, then be equipped as healthy disciples and sent back out into the world to invite the nations (over 7 billion) to know Jesus.

In my free time:
I love spending quality time with friends and getting into deeper conversations about life and faith, as well as learning and playing new board games, exploring coffee shops, and going on walks and runs in nature.

What did you study in college?
AgriScience Education

Something interesting/an odd fact about yourself:
I love plants! I typically can identify annual plants pretty easily. I will point them out and tell you what they are.

Why you went on staff:
I wasn’t a believer when I came to Ohio State, but God used the missionaries at H2O to change my heart and help me come to know Him. It completely transformed my life. I felt loved, seen, supported, and encouraged for the first time in my life because of a community I had never experienced. I was so grateful to get to be a part of the Kingdom of God. I know that God will use me in the same way that He used the missionaries in my life.

In my free time:
I go through phases of interest in books, tv shows, or movies. My favorite show is NCIS. My most recent book adventure was reading over 10 books by John Grisham. Also, I LOVE Taylor Swift.
