Something interesting/an odd fact about yourself:
I grew up on my family’s small farm, which has been in our family for over 220 years.
People remember me well as āthe soil guy.ā I’m a huge nerd for soil – ask me about it, and Iāll keep you busy for a few hours. My passion for it culminated through soil judging for 4 years in high school and 3 years in college at OSU. Iām a soil romantic – I think most people are unaware of just how beautiful, diverse, complex, and important it is. My staff nickname, āGranite Quarry,ā reflects this passion well.
Why you went on staff:
I grew up going to church every week with my family. I probably placed my faith in Christ at some point, but I mistook faith as a performance – a checklist of dos and donāts – and I tried hard to live the perfect life as a āstarā Christian, or at least make it look like I had it all together. It wasnāt until coming to college and discovering H2O that I began to learn that faith is about having a relationship with Jesus and openly receiving Godās abundant love and grace instead of trying to earn it or pay him back for it (spoiler alert: it canāt be done!). God, in his mercy, opened my eyes to my brokenness and the idol of performance that was enslaving me, and I turned back to Christ for forgiveness. Through my H2O family, Iāve continued to experience the awesome love and grace of Christ and to be transformed by it.
Through a mission trip to Haiti, God broke my heart for the nations that donāt know Jesus, and I became excited at the idea of reaching the lost with the gospel. During many years of prayer and seeking God, he continued nurturing this vision for full-time missionary work. I graduated from OSU and felt called to return and be a part of Godās work reaching out to college students at OSU with the gospel. Iām especially excited to see international students at OSU (about 7,000) hear the gospel and come into a saving relationship with their Lord and Savior, then be equipped as healthy disciples and sent back out into the world to invite the nations (over 7 billion) to know Jesus.
In my free time:
I love spending quality time with friends and getting into deeper conversations about life and faith, as well as learning and playing new board games, exploring coffee shops, and going on walks and runs in nature.

Something interesting/an odd fact about yourself:
This usually surprises people, but I am really into essential oils! I got the craze from my mom growing up and finally saved up enough to get my own little collection started this summer!Ā
Why you went on staff:
I went on staff because the Lord capture my heart during my years at college and with H2O. Coming to the close of my college years, I felt a strong pull from the Lord to come on staff with hopes of sharing the gospel with other students and seeing men and women have a zeal for surrendering their whole life to the Lord!

It is an honor and joy to serve the Lord here at Ohio State, share the message of hope we have in Jesus to others who are searching for something bigger than themselves, and see God do his crazy life-transforming work to raise up the next generation of disciples.

Why you went on staff:
I am so drawn to the deep questions and considerations about life that college brings about in young people. College students are bold and courageous, but also often lost, confused, and stressed (as I was in undergrad). My hope is that students at Ohio State would know the freedom, hope, joy, and peace that is found in following Jesus.Ā
In my free time:
I have been learning how to sew, quilt and embroider and I love spending time practicing those things!Ā

I’ve been to 34 of the 50 states, and hope to get to all 50 by the time I’m 50 š My favorite parts of the country so far are New England and Pacific Coast!
Why you went on staff:
I went on staff because I saw what an impact a church community on campus had in my life in college, and I had a strong desire to see other men and women be given the opportunity to dive deeper with the Lord in college. I believe campus ministry is a ripe mission field, and saw an opportunity to be part of the Lord’s Kingdom work here. I love helping people understand God and His story through His Word, and seeing people learn how to live by the power of the Holy Spirit and allow that to direct their lives.
In my free time:
I go to all the awesome Columbus coffee shops (mostly Fox in the Snow in German Village!). I hang out with my sister and nephew. I hang out with my friends exploring new places or watching movies. I like finding cute decor or making crafts to decorate my house.

Why you went on staff:
On July 11, 2016 I surrendered my life to the Lord on the porch of Graeterās Ice Cream! That day, God gave me a growing desire to live out the Great Commission and share the Good News with college students. I believe in the mission we have to make disciples of all nations- starting with the students at OSU who come from all over the world to study at Ohio State, have the possibility of becoming followers of Jesus, and then are sent out into the world to be missionaries wherever they go. It is an honor to do this work!
